Earrings big cateye stone cobalt blue

These earrings are made in collaboration with a small silversmith's workshop in Istanbul by skilled craftspeople. They are crafted from 22-karat gold-plated brass with a large cobalt-blue cat's-eye stone.

These are  synthetic gemstones. They are artificially created and have roughly the same chemical and physical properties as natural stones.

These often valuable synthetic gemstones should not be confused with so-called imitations, as these are imitations made using other materials, primarily glass or synthetic resin. These, therefore, have completely different chemical and physical properties.  However, they do have special optical properties and are primarily used as diamond substitutes. Most artificially reproduced gemstones are less expensive than natural gemstones. Synthetically composed gemstones are not considered imitations but are considered a separate group alongside natural gemstones. In the trade, they must always be labeled as synthetic. It is almost impossible for the layperson to distinguish between synthetic and natural gemstones. Even professionals often struggle. Sometimes, only specialized equipment can determine whether a stone is real or synthetic.
